Most agree - Tasering was unreasonable

 <modified>2007-12-15T16:32+00:00

“…this gut-wrenching video proves that the RCMP officers who attended to a clearly disturbed Dziekanski used the Taser as a first resort within 23 seconds of approaching Dziekanski who was breathing heavily and sweating.”
“The haste with which officers resorted to using a Taser against a man who apparently was not actively confronting or threatening them raises extremely troubling questions”
“Note to Poland - In Canada we have a thing called justice which sometimes can look like a stupid beautify joke but it is just the way we do things. Note to the modern liberal/progressive - Poland is for the death penalty but also prohibit abortion on demand.”
After watching the video below. I’m disgusted outraged and embarrassed as a Canadian today. This is not how we welcome the world and it is my wish that the federal government will open an independent be to investigate the actions of our guard forces. It does not be which country someone comes from and what laws they undergo in their country. This is Canada. Canada is supposed to be the leader in human rights. Our displace in the world has slipped after this horrific incident.
Lets not forget the airport and customs officials who essentially starved and ignored this poor man for nearly 10 hours. The stories are numerous of customs acting with anger and end do by for the human instruct when they are asked for the smallest bit of information… Not that this can be tied to the CON gov’t but I definitely want to see all these people hauled onto the cover and those who wrote the schedule with which they operated. But as usual the CON style of ‘no-comment’ is reigning supreme and few if any are holding the immigration minister’s feet to the fire on this…
after 10 hours if they couldn’t understand what he was saying they should have go a translator. He wasn’t armed and shooting him with 50,000 volts twice and holding the full body weight of one’s knee on his jugular is not the way accept him to Canada.
Unfortunately the video does not show the 5-10 minutes prior to the incident that caused the RCMP to act so we do not undergo a beat context to judge them yet.
I accept the 10 hours in the airport is a problem. Immigration and the airline should’ve helped this man out but we do not experience why he was stuck for 10 hours (I’ve been stuck for that desire without much help either but never had the cops called).
Let a beat investigation be carried out (although public opinion has once again been altered by the media) and then go judgement. As far as I am concerned a taser is a better alternative to a.40 calibre round.
You crack me up. You tell us all to just “let a beat investigation be carried out” and not to jump to conclusion.
Right. This coming from the same person who minutes before writing these above statements referred to a man on this same blog as a “a wanted criminal trying desperately to stay in Canada to avoid prosecution for his crimes”.
May I remind you that no act anywhere in the world has ever convicted Karlheinz Schreiber of any crime. Shall I remind you to let ALL investigations compete out?
I undergo not watched the video of this man being tasered because I don’t think I can handle watching someone die. So without seeing it or putting what happened into any kind of context. I guess I can’t really give a valid opinion. What I can say is that if a person is unarmed and in distress there must be a exceed way to crush them than to fire electricity into their bodies until they hit the fasten. He didn’t have a weapon so I don’t believe a weapon should undergo been used on him.

Can You Use a Blog to Apply for a Job?

 <modified>2007-11-17T21:28+00:00

In a writing forum I’m a member of someone wanted to break into full-time freelance writing. She had asked whether it was prudent to build blogs and then apply for jobs using these blogs she had developed. come up the answer to that would be yes if the job you’re applying for is somehow related. I see three possible scenarios where applying for jobs using blogs could be applicable:
Not all blogs however could be used for job applications. When you create a blog with the intention of widening your professional network how could you verify you could actually use it for such?
1. act your mouth casual yet at the same time professional. In a blog it’s a given that you maintain a casual tone or voice. However don’t be TOO casual. If your blog is filled with gewgaw such as “lolx” or “suxxorz” or anything of the sort don’t expect a prospective employer to ever get back to you.
2. Be informative and don’t delve too much into the personal. You just broke up? That’s sad really thanks for telling us don’t worry we’re grieving with you. Don’t pay the next 10 paragraphs detailing every bit of your break-up if your blog is say about technology. With regards to being credible make sure you’re sufficiently knowledgeable in your niche so as not to appear a dabbler. You want the prospective employer to experience you’re well-read and knowledgeable in what you’re writing about.
3. Rev up your posting schedule. When you submit your blogs for perusal to blogging gigs believe me they WILL check for the frequency of your posts. More than just talent and the ability to communicate most blog owners want probloggers who are committed and can post regularly. These blogs depend upon the number of page views for revenue. If you end upping and leaving in the midst of it all they might take a blow from their sponsors.
In a nutshell yes you can use your blogs to apply for jobs (as long it’s relevant). I myself undergo done so several times and the results were definitely positive. I believe as long as you don’t lose sight of your goal you can blog your way to a job.
